At the core of CarCrashLander is Cory Gray on piano and trumpet, and Brian Wright on drums. But on this night, Brian's wife Jess made a wonderful addition to the group, accompanying the duo on various wind instruments. The evening took hold with CarCrashLander moving through some of their old classics, and into some newer numbers from their most recent self-titled release on the Parks and Records label. The trio slowly built fragile songs that at their peaks felt like they could erupt and completely fall apart. But Cory's trumpet would occasionally shine through adding just enough light and warmth to the hauntingly dark piano-driven melodies, creating the perfect soundtrack for that brisk Montana winter night.
